📘 ¿What does the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities say about Personal mobility?
In Article 20, the CRPD promotes that States Parties must take effective measures to ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy personal mobility with the greatest possible independence by providing:
-Access to personal mobility in the manner and at the time of their choice at an affordable cost.
-Facilitating their access to quality forms of human or animal assistance and intermediaries, assistive technologies, technical devices, and mobility aids, including making them available at affordable cost.
Offering people with disabilities and specialized personnel working with people with disabilities training in mobility-related skills.
-Encouraging entities that manufacture mobility aids, devices, and assistive technologies to consider all aspects of mobility for people with disabilities.
Having infrastructures, regulations, and practices that focus on safe, easy, and universal movement in all environments for all people is key to the full enjoyment of an accessible world.
