What does the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities say? Universal Design
Universal Design is the one allowing products, environments, programs, and services to be used by all the people, as widely as possible.
As its name suggests, it is related to the step before the creation, and not to a subsequent adaptation.
Moreover, it includes the technical help and support that particular groups of persons with disabilities may require.
CRPD on its Article 4 also points out that Governments are obliged to promote investigation and the development of goods, services and facilities meeting specific needs of persons with disabilities. Thus, it is important to promote its availability and use, and that they are considered on the creation of standards and regulations.
